Originally funded by Queensland Health, Bringing Baby Home Safely was created as a free service at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to relieve parents of financial stress and worry.
As of JULY 2022: Bringing Baby Home Safely is now a fee-for-service program.
As our commitment to injury prevention, when you hire a baby capsule from Kidsafe Qld it will continue to include email support with practical injury prevention strategies to keep baby safe in the first 6 months.
For those families with low birth weight babies we invite you to phone 3854 1829 so that we can assist you with the hire of a Unity Infant Carrier specially designed for low birth weight babies.

The drive home from hospital with a newborn is perhaps the longest journey you’ll ever take and with a low birth weight baby it is even more stressful.
At Kidsafe Queensland, we can help put your mind at rest. Our team of qualified Type One fitters expertly fit the safest car seats and baby capsules available. We can also teach you all the tips and tricks, making sure you know how to get baby in and out safely.
We’re with you throughout the first 6 months
With our Bringing Baby Home Safely campaign we wanted to do more than just hire you a baby capsule – we wanted to empower you with simple injury prevention strategies to help you through the most difficult time of raising a child.
Statistics show that children are at the highest risk of injury in the first 5 years – even more so within the first 12 months of life. Throughout your hire period, we will send monthly emails that keep you one step ahead of your babies development so that you can keep them safe at home, on the road and at play.
It includes information about:
- Using baby slings and carriers safely
- Safe sleeping
- Guide to teething and dummies
- How to reduce risks of falls
- Risk of noise and common household poisons
- Choking and strangulation
Who are we?
Kidsafe Queensland is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation with a vision for a safer world for our kids at home, at play and on the road. For more than 40 years, we have been keeping kids out of hospital by teaching parents and caregivers how to prevent injuries with evidence based, practical safety advice. We have travelled the safety journey with over 20,000 Queensland families and the conversation always starts when baby arrives.
