Back To Basics: Transporting children safely for every trip

This 3-hour professional development workshop offers a 1-hour child car restraint presentation and a 2-hour practical skills session. 

The presentation covers the essential information on child car restraint usage, including the need for child car restraints, the correct installation and adjustment techniques and an overview of relevant legislation and standards.

The hands-on practical session provides participants with the opportunity to select, adjust, and install the restraints they use to transport children in their care. 

This workshop does not provide a qualification, unlike the One Day Child Restraint Course or the Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitting Course. However, the advantage of this workshop is that you receive training for the specific seats you use, not generic categories of seats.All attendees receive a certificate of attendance

• We can run multiple sessions in a day if you have a large number of staff

Kidsafe Staff can also complete an audit of your child car restraints to ensure they are in good condition and appropriate for the ages of children you are transporting. We can also recommend and supply new child car restraints where necessary

Cost:  $975 incl. GST per session with a min of 5 and max of 10 participants 

Travel Costs will be applicable if outside the Brisbane CBD.

One Day Child Car Restraint Course (CRFPIA301)

Perfect for Child Care providers, Family Day Care centers, or anyone who regularly transports children as part of their job using a specific fleet of vehicles and limited types of restraints. Click here to make an inquiry. 

This one-day program will equip participants with the knowledge and expertise to correctly select and install child car restraints from a specific range of restraints, ensuring the safe transportation of the children in their care.  

Note: This training does not certify you as a Type 1 Child Car Restraint Installer, but it is an accredited course that aligns with the CRFPIA301 single unit of competency and covers the correct use and advice on child car restraints.

Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitting Course (52862WA)

Ideal for individuals looking to provide child car restraint fitting services, or those who are required to select, fit, or use child restraints as part of their job duties. 

This two-day, nationally recognized training program will equip participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitting and checking services, including the proper selection, use, and fitting of child car restraints.  

Course Dates 2024: 15-16 Feb, 14-15 Mar, 18-19 Apr, 16-17 May, 13-14 Jun, 18-19 Jul, 22-23 Aug, 12-13 Sep, 17-18 Oct, 28-29 Nov

Cost: $660 per person incl. GST

Duration: Two Days – 9:30am to 4.30pm* (Start & Finish times may vary and will be confirmed in course confirmation letters emailed prior to commencement)

Do you work with children or adults with behavioural or postural concerns? 

Kidsafe Qld is the national distributor for Mobility Engineering postural and behavioural harnesses and as a NDIS approved provider can conduct consultations for safe seating solutions or product trials.   

We also deliver professional development workshops for Allied Health professionals wanting to expand their knowledge of safe seating for complex conditions or behaviours. 

Disability Safe Seating Solutions Workshop

This advanced one-day training course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to competently trial, recommend, modify and check child car restraints in vehicles in accordance with AS/NZS 4370:2013 – (Restraint of children with disabilities or medical conditions in motor vehicles).  This workshop includes demonstration of a range of behavioural and postural support harnesses and discussion about the benefits in various scenarios. 

This workshop is highly recommended for occupational therapists and physiotherapists or community health carers who select, fit or use child car restraints for children with disabilities or medical conditions. 

Cost:  $975 incl. GST per session with a min of 5 and max of 10 participants
Travel Costs will be applicable if outside the Brisbane CBD. 

Duration: 3-4 hours 

Note: This course can be conducted as a professional development day for Allied Health professionals, however if participants wish to prescribe seating solutions they should have completed Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitting Course in addition to this workshop.
