PLAYGROUND INSPECTION TRAINING

Kidsafe QLD playground consulting and inspection services.

All play spaces, playgrounds, play equipment, trampolines and indoor playgrounds must meet the Australian Standards for Playgrounds AS/NZS 4685. Kidsafe Qld offers playground inspection services or can train your staff to conduct the inspections for you.

All playgrounds or play spaces requiring ongoing inspections including daily/weekly visual inspections, monthly operational inspections or in accordance with Australian Standards for Playgrounds (AS/NZS 4685), an annual comprehensive inspection which should be carried out by a qualified professional.

Level 1 – Visual (Routine) Inspection Course

In accordance with Australian Standard AHCPGD212 (Conduct visual inspection of park facilities), all play equipment should be regularly inspected to identify visual hazards and potential risks.

This nationally recognised training course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to conduct routine (daily to weekly) inspections of play space, park or recreational facility.

Who is this course recommended for?

Individuals who are responsible for the routine visual inspection of park and recreational facilities; including but not limited to traditional, indoor, natural and nature playgrounds. This may include playground operators, maintenance personnel, risk assessors, safety officers, auditors, managers and owners of playground in public and private parks, staff members from schools, child care and other recreation and leisure facilities.

What are the entry requirements?

This course requires the satisfactory completion of oral, practical demonstration and written tasks. There are no specific entry requirements for AHCPGD206 Conduct visual inspection of park facilities, however a general command of spoken and written English, as well as the ability to write a simple report is required.

Course details and enrolment

Cost: $550pp (plus GST)
2024 Course Dates: 23 February, 7 June, 4 October

Where: All training conducted at Kidsafe Qld, Unit 8 / 87 Webster Road, Stafford Qld 4053.
Duration One Day:– 9am to 4pm* plus post course assessment task (Start & Finish times may vary and will be confirmed in course confirmation letters emailed prior to commencement)

On achieving competency, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the Unit of Competency AHCPGD206 Conduct visual inspection of park facilities.

It aligns with the national unit of competency from:
AHC21016 Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management
AHC20616 Certificate II in Parks and Gardens
AHC20416 Certificate II in Horticulture

Level 2 – Operational Inspection Course

In accordance with Australian Standard AHCPGD311 (Conduct operational inspection of park facilities), all play equipment should be regularly inspected to identify visual hazards and potential risks.

This nationally recognized training course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to conduct operational (monthly to quarterly) inspection of park and recreational facilities to identify hazards, existing and potential risks, non-conformities with Australian Standards, workplace health and safety requirements and is recommended for:

  • Maintenance staff at schools or play facilities
  • Safety officers
  • Professional development for equipment installers

Who is this course recommended for?

Individuals who are responsible for operational inspections of park and recreational facilities. These include but are not limited to traditional, indoor, natural and nature playgrounds, and those in a supervisory or maintenance role. This may include playground operators, supervisory, technical and maintenance personnel, risk assessors, safety officer, auditors, equipment manufacturers, landscape architects and designers, property developers, equipment installers, managers and owners of playground in public and private parks, staff members from school, child care and other recreation and leisure facilities.

2024 Course Dates: 21 & 22nd March, 1st & 2nd August, 7th & 8th November.

Duration: Two Days – 9am to 4.30pm* plus post course assessment task (Start & Finish times may vary and will be confirmed in course confirmation letters emailed prior to commencement)
