Are you confident that your child is travelling safely?
A recent safety blitz by Kidsafe QLD and Transurban revealed up to 90% of car seats are fitted incorrectly. A correctly fitted car seat can reduce the risk of an injury in a road accident by up to 70% – so it is important to make sure your child’s car seat is installed correctly to keep your precious cargo safe on the road.
Kidsafe Qld has partnered with Transurban to offer FREE checking services
Already, more than 7000 children are safer on South East Queensland roads as the direct result of our partnership with Transurban. Until 30 June 2027Â we have FREE car seat checks on Fridays, at different shopping centres each month as well as Community Days throughout the year.

Can anyone get a FREE child car seat fitting or check?
Yes! Thanks to Transurban’s support, Kidsafe QLD’s FREE child car seat fittings and checks are available to anyone and everyone. Bookings are essential, so follow the link above to book online.
Alternatively, Kidsafe QLD does offer fee-for-service appointments so that you can have your child’s car seat installed, moved or checked by one of our professional Type One fitters at our Stafford or Mater Hospital sites.
What happens if my child car restraint doesn’t pass the check?
If your child’s car restraint is found to be older than 10 years, unsuitable for your child, or doesn’t meet Australian Standards, we will always carry seats with us that are for sale or hire.
If your baby is currently in a rear-facing child car restraint and you would like it to be converted to forward-facing, conditions apply. We cannot convert a child car restraint from rear to forward-facing if the child does not meet or exceed the height marker. To avoid disappointment, check the height markers on the car restraint’s harness before you attend the appointment.
